My husband has been wanting a garden from the day we talked about building a house. I told him that would be all him and Skylar. This week he has worked his tail off getting the garden all ready. Monday was supposed to be the big day but our tiller would not start. Skylar was a little bummed out. Tuesday, he finally got the tiller working and spent about three hours out in the yard tilling up our little area for the garden. Wednesday was the big day! We picked Skylar up from school and she could not wait to get home to help plant everything. They were digging and planting for a couple of hours. Of course about half way through Sky was tired and said, "This is hard work! My legs hurt from bending over so much", so Jonathan finished up the rest. He was so excited about it all and it was amazing watching them have Father/Daughter time. This is definitely going to be "their" thing. I am actually really excited about it too, I just do not know much about growing a garden. Thank goodness I have a smart and amazing husband that knows what he is doing. I hope that everything turns out being our first year. We planted...watermelon, corn(my favorite!), squash, black eyed peas, green beans, sweet peas, sweet peppers, hot peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, sunflowers for Sky, and some herbs. I can not wait to give people fresh food off our home grown garden. Fingers crossed it turns out good.
