House Update & Wedding Bells

This past week a lot has happened with our house. They put the duct work in and wired the house for electricity and put our light switches and electrical outlets up. They also installed all of the doors and bathtubs. We picked out our stained concrete floors, hard wood floors and interior paint color. We have a lot of exciting things going on for the house this week as well. They will be painting the exterior then putting the shingles on the roof. Our concrete guy is coming Monday I believe to do the kitchen and laundry room. The alarm company guy is coming tomorrow to wire the house. Very exciting things! The inside is coming together so nice. It is so fun picking out stuff. I am the easy one and JT is the picky one. :) I do not blame him thought. He wants our house done right. He has learned just to give me options on stuff and let me pick. Everyone knows I hate making decisions. I do better if I have the choices in front of me then say, yes, no, heck no, love it.

They will paint the trim this week

We have shingles! Whoo hoo.

JT's man cave. It is HUGE!

Yay- we have tubs!

We have less than 2 weeks before the big day! Holy stars!!! We are so excited. We have a few minor things to do and finish but overall we are pretty well done with everything. I am the most excited about all of my best friends coming into town. We haven't all been together in the same city in a LONG time! We want this day to be as simple as possible. We want this to be a celebration of two becoming one instead of a big huge day and all of these things we HAVE to do, blah blah blah. I am also excited that our wedding is at his families place, that way we have as long as we want and can start setting up stuff as early as we want. It's going to be perfect! I love that man so much and want nothing but to be the best wife and mother for him. He treats me like a queen and knows my strengths and weaknesses and when to just leave me alone if I am grouchy. He really is the perfect man and how did I get so lucky to spend the rest of my life with him?!....Oh wait I know, it all starts with a friendly game of kickball. ;) Let the countdown begin!!!

Finished second floor and roof

The second floor is almost finished with the framework. It is coming along so well and looks more and more like a house every time we go visit. Jonathan, Skylar and I went out to the property on Wednesday night after I got off work. It was late and dark so Jonathan did not want to get out and look at the house because it was hard to see, I agreed but Skylar wanted to get out and look. So of course, I get out my flashlight and carry her through the house. It was kind of cool actually. Jonathan sais it was kind of freaky seeing us in there at dark with a little light. We probably looked like little aliens. When we leave the house we get a text from our builder about 5 minutes later reading..." Are y'all at the house. Neighbors are concerned." We thought it was funny and good at the same time. We are guessing that the neighbors did not see our car and just saw a person with a flash light walking around the house. That was a good feeling knowing that they are already looking out for our house. We are going this week to pick out the brick and outside trim paint color. Next, they should work on putting the shingles on the roof, then installing the windows and then bricking the house.

It's coming all together. :)

Enjoying the weather

This week it felt so nice outside. Skylar enjoyed playing outside so much. The fall is when we practically live outside and she never wants to go in. JT and I surprised her at school one day by picking her up in "The Babe". It is an old car that we have that she loves so much. It made her day.

This week was also my parents 31st wedding anniversay. I decided to let Skylar draw Boshi and Pop Pop(my parents) a picture on the mirror in her bathroom so they would see it the next morning. She had more fun and actually drew REALLY good pictures. It was so sweet because 1. I did not even know she could draw a person and 2. She said she drew Boshi and Pop Pop and it just melted my heart! She is so sweet and caring. It was just one of those proud Mommy moments. Here are a few pics of her drawings.

Second floor

They have finished the flooring of the second floor and are working on the roofing now. It is still so amazing and neat to watch the progress. So much happens in a day. Last night we had lots of visitors... Mom, Dad, James, Buck and Nicole. Skylar got invited over to our neighbors house and played over there for a long time. She had a blast. Our neighbors are so sweet! We already hang out over there and we don't even live there yet. The plan was to order pizza and eat on the rooftop, but we all ran our mouths too long and did not order the pizza until later so the skeeters were eating us up. So we ended up going to Buck and Nicole's house and eating there. It was a good night with great friends. We went by today and they had the some of the roof up. It looks so crazy with a second floor and a roof!
Hanging out on the rooftop with my love!

Second floor is under way.

One month til "I DO's"

In exactly 33 days I get to marry my best friend and most amazing man! I am so excited. When we picked October as our wedding month it seemed so far away. I mean it was almost one year. But the time is near and flew by! We have all of the big stuff done like photographer, dress, DJ, caterer, preacher, etc... Now I am just getting those little things and have lots of projects to do. We are going out to the Farm next week to check out the barn and see what else we need to do. Skylar got her flower girl dress in the mail this week, she LOVED it and did not want to take it off. She was just glowing. She is just as excited as we are. In fact, she went to her Dad's last weekend and when she came home she said, "Mommy I brought you something..." She then pulls out 3 empty vegetable cans and gave them to me. This is special because we have been collecting cans for a few months now and decorating them for the wedding. It seriously made me tear up that she thought to bring those home. Her Dad cooked lunch and she asked him if she could have them for "our" wedding as she calls it. Sunflowers is our theme. Here are a few pics of some of the decorations...

Floor joist and walls...

We have been down to our property everyday this week. I did not think they would have worked on Labor Day but they sure did. We were pleasantly surprised when we drove down there. They were working on putting up the actual walls. Skylar has started this new thing, every time we go down there she collects all of the nails and puts them in a box for the construction workers. Wednesday night when we went she brought her best friend Sophie and they collected nails and picked up all of the thousand of water bottles and cups. I am sure the construction workers were wondering what the heck happened. JT and I are starting to get really excited. I never knew how much fun building a house can be, well of course when things are going right with it. We love looking back on our pictures of each step and how it all comes together. It is something we all get to do and enjoy as a family and something that will be our home! We met another neighbor on Wednesday night, another nice person. Every neighbor we meet tells us how great of a neighborhood it is and how much they love it! So comforting. Here are a few shots from this week.

It's beginning to look like a house

This week they worked on putting the framing of our house up. One day we had 1 wall, the next we had 2, then 3 and then we had all of our walls! It is starting to really come together and look like a house. When we went on Friday to visit, they had a "sold" sign on our lot and started putting the flooring down on the second floor. I am sure they will not work on it today, but can not wait to see the second floor finished. On Friday, Skylar took her bike and rode it around our future garage and had an absolute blast. Then she rode her bike all the way to the park. I am just so in love with our location and already enjoy the park so much! It already feels so much like "Home".  :)
